Web applications come in many formats but unique to their appeal is the ability to run 'anywhere' or 'anything' as long as there is an internet connection and some form of web browser on the device being used. In this project, I was given a task to create an E-Commerce shop front web application using ASP.NET C# and SQL.

• Designed and developed a number of Microsoft ASP.NET pages using HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript with consistent and intuitive layout for user, as well as admin, including a supporting document for layout decisions
• Classified the application using n-tier architecture involving 3 tiers; (i) User browser, (ii) Web server, and (iii) Database server, to ensure scalability, ease of management, flexibility, and layout security
• Implemented classes and objects using Object Oriented design principles in the business layer for all the business logic required for an e-commerce website using C#
• Created a database using SQL and its queries using T-SQL in SQL Server Management Studio connected with data access layer which is responsible for passing data directly to and from the database system

Mobile applications have become a must for businesses these days, across various industries. I have recently become a fan of mobile applications, especially cross-platform, and it's just feel satisfying deploying on two devices with one codebase. In this project, we were given a task to develop a cross-platform mobile application, with our choice of focus. As being fascinated by running and walking, I had to choose a step-counting app, which not only counts your step but there you can record your meal preps and workout routine on the provided fields.

Following tasks were undertaken to acheive the desired results:

• Designed the prototype for the Cross-Platform mobile fitness application on proto.io to plan out the coding process
• Coded the finalised prototype on Microsoft Visual Studio using Xamarin for the front-end, C# for the server-side functionality including a local database to save user's information on their own device
• Programmed the accelerometer in such a way that counts the user steps and differentiate whether it was recorded by walking or running using Pythagorean theorem to calculate the magnitude of each acceleration vector
• Deployed the application on iOS using Xcode and on Android using an emulator on Visual Studio

Back in my early teenage years, I was obsessed with 2D games (do you remember Castle of Illusion???), I mean, who wasn't right? However, I never really paid attention to how they are actually made or the coding/physics part of it, until I had to choose my elective courses and came across one of them called 'Games Production'. The major task in this course was to design and develop a 2D Platformer Game using Unity.

Following tasks were carried out to complete the game:

• Chose and analyzed one of the existing 2D game, documented the appearance, character movement, control, abilities, and animation related to the main character
• Pitched a high concept of my 2D platformer game, including the main goal, game setting, interactions with NPC, and a simple sketch of the first level
• Learned the basics of Unity and implemented my concept using C# and Physics2D, including a game start/end screen, transitions, three levels with complexity increasing in each, main character and NPC, and series of pickups and puzzles
• Presented the final game in class, and recorded the gameplay to online on YouTube

After multiple ASP.NET courses, I thought it will be nice to cover one of the Java courses, as an elective. In this course, we were given a project to create an interface for a Juice Company to help with their management. When run, the program display a menu of actions to the user, including the one that exits the program. The project was completed using BlueJ in Java language.

Following functionalities were implemented to acheive the desired results:

• Implemented an interface for a Juice company using Java and BlueJ, satisfying all the business requirements, and queries included in the project specification document
• Ensured Polymorphism and Encapsulation when implementing classes to prevent unauthorised parties' accessing them directly
• Maintained OOP principles, and used various testing and debugging techniques throughout the project timeframe
• Delivered the project meeting all the objectives, with supporting document as required

Who hasn't played dice game before? Snakes' Eye game was implemented using ASP.NET C# and Web Forms. It is a multiplayer game, which can also be played against the computer, but, there is set of rules that makes it exciting and also fun. The project was completed as part of the assessment for a course called, application programming. It was completed as a group project.

The following tasks were completed to implement the working game:

• Sketch a low-fidelity prototype for the dice game which shows the menu screen, game screen, and win/lose tally
• Code the graphical dice using ASP.NET C# draw function taught in labs
• Program the set of rules provided in the specification document for the game
• Program the 'Play with Artificial Intelligence (AI)' part which automatically keeps track of its current and cumulative score, play with a set of strategies, and keep a record of its wins/losses
• Display the final score and message once a set of number of games have been played by the user

In this project, I along with my team were asked to develop a project proposal for a new student/staff experience initiative, to aim the following:

• Increase maximum utilisation of car parking facilities across the campus
• Reduce time for finding parking and parking space, especially in the busy times
• Improve student/staff experience in navigating the campus
• Improve communication/interaction between students/staff and the clubs as well as among the members within a club

For the project proposal, our team was asked to provide a project plan, including scope, budget, timeframe, and resources required.

Following steps were completed to develop a project proposal for UON:

• Project Details: Outlines all the necessary information about the project, like dates, stakeholders, and requirements etc.
• Project purpose and objectives: A short description of the proposal, including its aim, purpose, the services it will provide to students/staff, goal, and potential benefit
• Project Scope: Includes (a) Inclusions, such as, It will be a Hybrid Application that works both on mobile devices as well as web browsers. And (b) Exclusions, such as, not available to users without a University of Newcastle email address
• Project Benefits: All the estimated benefits that this project could bring to UON were listed, such as cultivate a stronger community, easier navigation across the university, higher student enrollment rate, increase in university revenue, etc.
• Critical Success Factors: A few critical success factors were identified to propose, where for example one of them was, UX/UI mockup of CompanUON, about how the mockup needs to demonstrate that the application is responsive, user-friendly, and accessible - adhering to best practices outlined in the web content accessibility guide
• the rest of the sections includes, Alignment to university strategic plan & policy, Alternative solutions, Project timeline and resources, Dependencies, Constraints, Assumptions, Source of funding, Cost & on-going costs post production, and Risk profile analysis

The proposal also incorporated new innovative ideas with emerging technologies, new software/tools, as well as augmenting the existing technology/IT infrastructure through added-on IT services.

During my last semester, I decided to take less coding courses, and enrolled myself in marking-side of the world. In this course, I was given a project to develop a social media marketing plan for an Australian brand, including the analysis of the voice of the customer (VoC), quantitative social media analytics, development of integrated marketing objectives, and finally development of a social-media-focused digital marketing plan.

Let's take a quick look into the above sections and what steps were taken by my team and I to develop a complete digital marketing plan:

• Customer profile: The salient values that the customers are seeking in the brand were identified. It was done using Strategyzer 'Value Proposition Canvas' framework, which anwswer questions like, customer job, customer pain, and customer gain trigger questons
• Marketing Objective: In this section, we set a marketing objective by conducting a SWOT analysis and substantiating its arguments using the data collected from the brands' social media sites. Web analytics and SEO skills were also used to inform the SWOT analysis. Now that we had our data in hand, we proposed one marketing objective for the brand using the 5S framework for strategic digital marketing planning, and justified the objective using S.M.A.R.T criteria
• Marketing Plan: A digital marketing plan was developed to achieve the objective proposed in the above section using RACE framework. Four campaigns were proposed, one for each week of December, as these are the Christmas holidays for most of the Australian retailers. The campaigns were a mix of paid and non-paid (organic) running on their social media sites only. All campaigns and associated activities contained within the plans were justified, again using RACE framework. Posts and related content was created using Canva for their social media sites and were attached as screenshots in our submission
• Resource Estimate: Finally, providing a resource estimate for the marketing plan, for example, for one of our campaigns that we created, a graphic desginer was needed, so for that, we used job portals like SEEK.com.au to justify the estimated human-resource budget

The project focuses mainly on analysis and modelling/re-modelling of the business. For this course, we were given a scenario to implement a new management system for a cemetery, called Pearly Gates Lawn. The main objective of the project was to develop a new, efficient information system, where schedules can change rapidly with little notice, and to be able to incorporate changes (even if they are unreasonable) smoothly and efficiently. We were given a set of business rules and requirements to be able to implement the new system. Following are the tasks that were carried out to achieve the desired results:

• Starting with eliciting and documenting the requirements for the online management system. System processes and user requirements were identified, and based on these, an initial model of the current system was constructed in UML.
• UML diagrams inluded:
  • Use case diagrams and intermediate descriptions for each use case
  • Activity diagram for each use case
  • Class diagram of all the implemented classes (including the interface and controller objects)
  • Sequence diagrams explaining how each use case is realized
  All of these diagrams were created in UML using an online tool called Lucidchart
• A brief deployment strategy including the architecture of the system was also presented for Pearly Gates Lawn
• Lastly, a User Interface (UI) design was implemented, showing the system and how the tasks will be carried out online, as a prototype

A professionally conducted report was presented including the diagrams and deliverables.

A scenario was given where a Pizza outlet decided to computerise its records, after managing them manually for years. We were asked to design a database for the shop, by the University as part of the project for this course.
The proposed database system was developed in various modules, including requirements analysis, conceptual database design, logical database design, and physical database design. Below are the details of how each of these modules were implemented:

• Requirements analysis/Conceptual database design: The step was broken down into three sub-categories, (a) data requirements - types of data needs to be stored in the database, (b) transaction requirements - important and frequent database operations, data manipulation, and queries, (c) and business rules - what is provided by the business and possibly few assumptions.
  Along with these, an EER model for the requirements was also created along with data dictionary details outlining the description of entities, relationships, and attributes
• Logical database design: The conversion of conceptual model (EER) to data model (Relational Database Schema) is carried out in this step, also known as normalization on a database. The database was normalized upto the last level, which is BCNF (Boyce Codd Normal Form) to reduce or remove redundancy in the data, and to maintain the database without any duplicate values and bring inconsistency to the data in the database
• Physical database design: Finally, writing SQL scripts creating normalised business' database on SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), including all necessary tables with right parameters such as primary key, foreign key, default value. SQL statements satisfying the transaction requirements were also included.

The submission of the project included the .sql file of the physical database, and a final report including requirement specifications, EER diagram and data dictionary, mapping of EER to relational model, and the process of normalization to BCNF.
